Biography

Ms. Salka is a Certified Family Law Specialist, former Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section, “SuperLawyer” in Los Angeles magazine from the inception of the program in 2004 through the present and former editor of the LACBA “Family Law News and Review” for seven years.

After 30 years of advocacy work (during which time she was honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers), she has, for over 18 years, limited her practice to non-litigation conflict resolution services (mediation, collaborative and unbundled consultation services, case management and drafting collaborative documents for couples marrying or separating).

Ms. Salka is a co-founder and current trustee of the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association (LACFLA) and served as co-chair of the State Bar Family Law Section Consensual Dispute Resolution(CDR)/ADR Standing Committee(South)for over a decade.

She has been extensively published, is a frequent lecturer and adjunct professor/trainer at Loyola and Southwestern Law School and has created and organized a number of high level programs, including the State Bar Family Law Section’s Biennial Pepperdine Law School Advanced Mediation Symposia. At the invitation of the Supreme Court Justice of Rwanda, she is currently teaching an intermediate mediation training class to members of the Family Law Bar of Rwanda.

One of Ms. Salka’s proudest professional achievements is the creation of the State Bar CDR Committee Panel of Adult Children of Divorce, which has been presented to the family law judges of Los Angeles County, attorneys, mediators, mental health professionals, teachers, clergy and parents.In 2022, Ms. Salka co-founded a nonprofit organization known as HEALTHY Divorce which has become a pilot project of the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Division.  In 2023, Ms. Salka was awarded the CPCAL Eureka award for contributions to the field of consensual dispute resolution.

After serving as president of University Synagogue and negotiating a merger with Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Ms. Salka became a current member of the board of Trustees of WBT.
